Stand Up Recap: Al Jackson & Patrice O'neal

Dear People,

Don't worry, I did not forget about you. I managed to catch new material form Al Jackson, and Patrice O'neal this weekend, sadly I missed Natasha Leggero, the one I was actually most excited to see. I was passed on my floor from PBR and thus unable to set my VCR to record. However the good news is that Al Jackson and Patrice O'neal were both hilarious.

Al Jackson had a real down to earth type vibe. Identified with crowd as person of his crowd. His humor was mostly everyday material for those in their mid 20's. The persona of Al Jackson is excited, but not too excited. He's definitely a performer though, no doubt about it. If I had to do a comparison Al Jackson is the guy at the party that everyone's listening to.His main jokes included starbuck's language, erectile dysfunction, and white people in sports. Anyway here is probably my favorite bit from his set that kind of reminds me of myself.

Patrice O'neal was less consistent for me. I like the latter part of his set. Especially when he goes on about 20 year old's. However, I found the the beginning of his special to be awful material. He's performs well, he has a good character, but he just did not start off well. Honestly his best stuff started when his jokes got dirtier. Which I usually find to be the opposite case. His best jokes we're probably his monthly nosebleeds, and orgasm receipt. It's interesting though because I found a lot of people hyping him up, and he wasn't bad, just not mind blowing either. You can decide that for yourself though.

As for my stand up career, after much procrastination tonight I will make some improvement. I'm going to an open mic show, and hopefully can meet some people who may be able to point me in the right direction.

That's all
