Dear People,
Been awhile. Asking what's new in the comedy world? Well not much going on at Comedy Central. John Oliver's Stand up is still going strong. Here's a look from last week.
Not his best stuff. However, look out for Brendon Walsh. Clear cut comedy that will no doubt get some laughs, I wish I had a different clip because this one sells him short a little.

Comedy Central Presents Season Finale Tonight: Natasha Leggero
Dear People,
It's been an interesting season of CCP. A lot of unknowns, but that did not necessarily translate into a lot of unseen talent. However, the season finale is sure to impress with the always funny high society Natasha Leggero. It'll be on tonight at 11pm in between a slew of reruns. Here's a clip from the special tonight:
I'll probably come back with a review, and possibly an overview of the whole season.

John Oliver's New York Stand Up to premiere this Thursday.
Dear People,
Daily Show correspondent, comedian, and Community star John Oliver is back. The second season of John Oliver's Stand Up will premiere on Comedy Central, Thursday at 12am. The second season will take place in New York and feature new unknown comic's as well as seasoned veterans. What I like most about this show is that it will feature the winners of the Jokes.com Open Mic Challenge. Real undiscovered talent that is waiting for an opportunity to get some mainstream attention. Anyway, here's a clip from a past Oliver performance on the show.

Charlie Sheen to Perform Stand up?
Dear People,
Apparently Charlie Sheen is branching out into live shows, and they're already selling out. The performance "Fastball" scheduled for April 2nd and 3rd is already sold out. I know Sheen is no comic, but I can tell you he did not write a 1 man theatre performance for this. Sheen will be performing a stand up type show for good or bad. I assume his show will be similar to a Christopher Titus "Norman Rockwell is Bleeding" type performance. Being that he is a frustrated actor, he probably will not have a set up - Bang routine. Anyway here's his recent famous rant if you have not already heard it, I assume his show will have many similar themes.

Stand Up Retrap: Mike Vecchione, And Jessi Klein
Dear People,
Managed to catch most of the Comedy Central Presents specials last night. Sadly it was hit or miss for me. Loved Jessi Klein, hated Mike Vecchione.
I wanted to like Mike Vecchione, I really did, but I just couldn't. His material was weak, his rhythm was off, and delivery was poor. It was also very obvious that he was nervous. He didn't come off strong or really have much of a persona. He also had a tendency to repeat words and phrases. Whether this was to keep his rhythm on track (which it didn't really) or for comedic affect (also did not make a difference for) is still unclear to me. Vecchione's Stand up persona would have to be a sort of Buff White guy who is actually very soft spoken. If I had to choose a best clip, which was difficult it would be this one.
Jessi Klein
Jessi Klein was funny. Undoubtedly funny. She never made my sides split but she kept me laughing the entire time. Klein's deal was the Jewish mid 30's single woman who has been around the relationship block. She actually had a type of Tina Fey vibe. Her material was good and she had good timing. I'm not surprised she's not more well known considering how hard it is for female comics to make a name. I have to say though I liked her way better than better known names like iliza shlesinger or natasha leggero. Here's a look at some of her special
That's it for now, hopefully I can catch Daniel Tosh's special this Sunday

New Specials: Daniel Tosh, Mike Vecchione, And Jessi Klein
Dear People,
My weekend is looking shitty, but at least there is new stand up on. Daniel Tosh is getting his own 1 hour special "Happy Thoughts" that will premiere on Sunday. I never understood everyone's obsession with Tosh.0. Mostly because I think it extremely limits Tosh in every creative way. He may as well just be a humorous newscaster. However, if you haven't caught his stand up then you'll be surprised at what he can do. The two new Presents specials are Mike Vecchione and Jessi Klein. Neither of which I know much about, Vecchione doesn't even have a wikipedia yet. That's good though, I'd rather go in fresh than research a comedian and expect something. Anyway, that's all for now.
